One of the most famous and popular stops on the way to Everest is a village called Namche Bazaar, which is located at 11,286 feet (3440 meters). Most trekkers reach Namche on their second day of hiking, but to get there they must first conquer a very long, and challenging hill that is a test of stamina for just about anyone. In fact, that day on the trail is one of the most challenging of the entire trek, as you gain more than 2600 feet (800 meters) in altitude.
With a population of roughly 1500 people, Namche is the largest town in the Khumbu Valley, and as such, has a number of amenities that you won’t find as you go higher, like hot shower’s!!!
After what felt like days of travelling, we finally made it here at around 3:30pm yesterday! (3:00am) Canadian time!!!
It’s a pretty interesting place! People are wonderful! Food has been great!!! Especially since I grew up on curry and exotic spices!! This is heaven for me!!
It’s 5:30AM! Limo will be here shortly, then it’s off to Pearson Intl. to catch our flight!
All is packed and ready to go! ![]()

It’s Friday the 18th of March and tonight I accomplished my goal of raising $29,035! The height of Mt.Everest!
Thanks to everyone involved! To the volunteer staff at the CMHA/GB. To all the wonderful people who hosted events, sponsored events, volunteered, donated prizes, supported and donated money, I thank you!
To my wonderful family for putting up with the sacrifices this past year, I love you!
Most of all to my new friend and co-fundraiser, Jackie Ralph, from the CMHA/GB who held my hand through every excruciating interview(cos’ I don’t cope well at all) I thank you so much! Without your help it wouldn’t have got as far as it did!! You’re the best partner anyone could ever have dreamed for on an adventure like this!!
We’ve done the two biggest goals, now it’s just the mountain!! Jackie, you’re awesome!!
Love and thanks to everyone!
Talk when I get back!
