    Maggie and Mary
My wife Jennifer and I wish you all the best on your trek. You read a bit about our adventure on the CapreolOnLine site – it was an experience we will never forget. It is not easy, but it is very rewarding, and when you spend time in the Himalaya (especially the monasteries) you will experience something special. You are tackling this challenge for a very good cause. Please feel free to contact us for a few ingredients to the recipe for success.

  28. Amber says:

    Hi

I have read alot of books on various expeditions on Everest and it is a very fasinating region of the world .

I suffer from an mental illness and live in Bruce County I believe in you what you are doing to create awareness on youth and mental illness

A dream of mine is to go got to Mount Everest (Chomolunga -the mother godess of the world is said to reside on the summit) and see Ama Dablam another mountain in Nepal. I am very curious in the Sherpa people.

Are you going to bring / create Tibetan prayer flags? (could be a fund raiser)

The prayer flags are pieces of cloth that stung up together side by side on a piece of rope — the beleif is those prayers on those flags are taken to the gods via the wind)

Maybe you can get youth or people you suffer from mental illness to creat a prayer flag. When you are at the base camp and tie it up the string of flags at the Everest base camp… those theirprayers / hopes / dreams can go up to the gods in Himalayas.

Are you going to trek to the Nepal or the Tibeten base camp? Would you go to the advanced base camp in Tibet or in Nepal? How large is your group going to Everest? Are you going to a monastery and take part in the rituals (ie. a blessing from a Lama) that the expeditions take part in?

I know in March is when the various expeditions start sending their provisions to base camp. You’ll will see alot of porters and Sherpa. I know you will meet alot of people.

Please be safe and have an a wonderful trip. Try to be in the momemnt and take all what Everest / Himalayas. has to offer

  29. maggie says:

Thanks for posting Amber! You know a lot about the area and it’s traditions. :)
Our group has 30 members! Most of them from the UK! One of them, Dave, is going for the 2nd time! He loved it so much!
We are going to the Nepalese Base Camp! There will be many climbers camped there in March/April!
We visit the Tengboche Monastery on the way up, for a blessing.
I have 2 prayer scarves to take with me to BC! I received them at my first fundraiser, at the Rocky Raccoon, in Owen Sound. Robyn, the owner, is from Nepal. He did a traditional blessing that evening!
If you check out my resource page, there’s a link to the Discover Adventure website, with an itinerary of the trip. I think you’ll find it interesting. Although I funded my own trip, you can fundraise, and apportion a percentage of the money to a charity of your choice, with the remainder paying your trip!
    Thanks for your interest Amber.
    Merry Christmas!
    Maggie :)
